As a company in the mobility sector, we naturally also have our own transportation and logistics processes. Transportation between sites and to our customers as well as the commuting journeys of our employees all impact on our environmental performance.

 

Our Supply Chain Excellence Initiative (SCE) investigates the logistics between Knorr-Bremse sites. By optimizing the transportation network and route planning, we have been able to increase the efficiency of our logistics chain and reduce CO2 emissions.

 

Through optimum use of rail, highway and shipping lines, we try to minimize the environmental impact caused by product transportation. Whenever possible and practical, we also replace business trips with telephone and video conferences.

 

Various sites have incentive systems to reduce commuting by employees. In Munich, for example, they are given a discounted annual public transport pass. There are also campaigns aimed at motivating Munich employees to come to work by bicycle.
